I am so excited for this Series!
Year after year I have found myself swallowed by my to do list, my grocery list and my gift list. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day would bear down upon me and I would feel a great sadness overwhelm me. Christmas cheer was nowhere to be found and I had failed yet again to celebrate Jesus the way I really wanted to. I am determined that this year will be different.
In December I have the opportunity to portray Mary many times. She tells her story from Jesus’ conception to His resurrection. She was the only one to see Jesus through it all. Jesus, her Son and her Savior.
Each time I portray her the words of the prophet Simeon ring so clear… Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which will be spoken against 35 (yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” Luke 4:34-35
Mary’s own soul would be pierced as Jesus’ life, death and resurrection would unfold before her own eyes. I cannot imagine how painful the piercing was.
As we move into Advent let’s take some time to settle in with Mary, as she leads us through the Advent Candles. We will allow ourselves to find quiet moments in this busy season, we will allow Jesus to reveal Himself to our hearts and then glory in the good tidings of our Savior.
At the end of Advent this is what we will find
